Our involvement in the Villa Paraiso project will focus on utilization of sustainable civil engineering design techniques, particularly as applied to water and land conservation.  More specifically, we will:

• Utilize Low Impact Development (LID) stormwater design and treatment techniques.  The primary goal of the LID approach is to replicate the predevelopment hydrology of the site by using techniques that store, infiltrate, evaporate, and detain runoff. 

Our conceptual plans call for maximizing site permeability (e.g., promote the infiltration of stormwater into the ground rather than runoff into the Arlington River) by directing stormwater to vegetative landscape or pervious surfaces.  The driveway design will re-use materials already on the property (existing brick, concrete, and shingles) in a permeable paver application.

• Design stormwater control features to limit erosion and sediment runoff to surface waters during construction and after completion of site development;
• Work with other design professionals to minimize disturbance of trees and plants already present on the property.  The final design will more efficiently maintain and treat stormwater on the property and reduce the localized heat island effect; 
• Provide performance-based treatment design for gray- and black-water sewage treatment and disposal.  Treated water will be utilized on site; and
• Work with other design professionals to provide design of systems to harvest and utilize rainwater on the property.
